Past Years' Devil Chases

Countdown to the Devil's Chase!

Race Feedback

2011

First off I want to say that it sure was a lot of fun to participate in your race today. Wasn’t sure what to expect and used the Active Schwaggle to enter (got my running partner to do it also) and we were very pleasantly surprised. Great course, lots of energy and enthusiasm in the crowd of runners and volunteers, very cool shirts. It sure was a great time all around and I really enjoyed the chance to dress up in my devil’s outfit! -CB

This was my first time running the Devil’s Chase (and the 2nd annual one, I believe) and, overall, it was a pleasant experience. The energy level was high, costumes fun and creative, refreshments ample, people friendly, weather cooperative, parking convenient, and course scenic (and not too hilly!). To boot I won a bottle of wine for my costume, which was validating.

Fun race all around. The costumes, the energy of the crowds and the fellowship among runners gave the event a very positive vibe. One good thing about the course is that, on three different occasions, the runners pass each other on out and back runs. This creates a nice feeling of community, which is a big reason I run in road races. Obviously disappointing to have to wait for acurate times to be posted, especially when you run faster than your goal as I did. With a little tweaking, this will be one of the most popular road races if the year in our region

Timing issues aside, this was a great race. I flew up from Miami for Halloween in Salem and registered for this race during the end of the week. The course was fantastic, including tons of water views and a portion of the race that sent us through the edge of the docks with a Devil waiting for us in the middle. Also, the TEK race shirts were a nice bonus to assist with the fact that my Miami ass was freezing. The course wasn’t the only fantastic part, the locals of Salem were terrific. Thousands of people cheered from their houses, the center of town, and the like. The fans who were out and about at 8 in the morning made this race a great run.
Hi there,

I just wanted to tell you that the Devil’s Chase race was one of the funnest races my husband and I have done. It was such a pretty course thru Salem, fan support was great thru the neighborhoods, and I’ve never been offered Bloody Mary’s on the course before! We missed the zombie dance, but I guess that’s just an incentive to run faster next time! 🙂

Thank you!
