2021 10 & 20 Miler

We are more excited than ever to be able to provide the opportunity to host the Black Cat this year in conjunction with the Wicked Half Marathon in Salem, MA! Although not ideal, we wanted to provide a longer distance option for those training for Boston in the Fall which was the original reason for bringing the The Black Cat 10 and 20 Miler to life.

Friday from 4-7PM & Saturday from 9-11AM: B&S Fitness Facility (GPS: 90 Leavitt Street, Salem, MA)
Race Day: Starting at 5:30AM at B&S Fitness Headquarters
**If you are not pre-registered by Friday at Noon you will not be able to pick up your race materials until race morning.
NEW LOCATION for 2021: The start/finish location will take place at the B&S Fitness Headquarters located at Shetland Park. (GPS: 90 Leavitt St, Salem, MA – enter the parking lot at the end of the street, bare left and look for Dock 19/20 with the B&S/CFIS Signage.
Swag: Everyone will receive a custom shirt and personalized bibs will be provided to all participants pre-registered by August 15th. All participants will receive an event finishers medal upon completion of the event. If you wish to purchase any additional swag items, you’ll have that opportunity through the registration process.

Course Time Cap: 4 hour time cap beginning at 7AM
Course Details (Water Stations and Bathrooms):
The course will have a Water Station every 2 miles or so. Aid stations will have either Gatorade or Water, sometimes both. The aid station at the VFW on Westshore Drive will have Gu’s, twizzlers, petroleum jelly, and bathrooms. **Note, water stations will not be setup until 7AM so those participating in the 6AM start, should be equipped with nutrition/fuel for the beginning portion of the course.
Dogs/Strollers: We do welcome dogs and strollers. We do ask that you line up in the back at the start line. Dogs must be leashed at all times.
Post Race: Several packaged food items and fruit will be available to choose from. Hot and iced coffee will be available for swimmers. We encourage you to head downtown Salem where there are several restaurants, bars, cafes and boutique shops that are worth checking out. If you’re looking for breakfast or a post swim beverage we recommend visiting The Derby and/or Brothers Taverna! Just show them your medal, bib or shirt and they’ll take 15% off your food bill!
Parking: All parking will be located between the Shetland Park Parking Garage and the Derby St/Congress St. Municipal Garage.

Black Cat Beneficiaries: The Black Cat 10/20 Miler supports a variety of organizations including: Team MR8, Allie Castner Foundation & Salem High School Cross Country.
Race Refunds & Event Cancellation: We understand life happens and things may come up. We’ve implemented a defer and transfer policy for FREE up to a certain date for all B&S events. Transfers or deferments made after said date will incur a small fee for administration purposes. In the case of event cancellation due to public safety, inclement weather or some other unforeseen power at be, the event will become virtual.

**If you were pre-registered for the 2020 event, your entry will automatically be deferred to the 2021 race. When a date is determined, you will then have the option to race or defer your entry to 2022 if the event date doesn’t sync with your calendar.
